The World Environment Day was celebrated yesterday at the National Palace of Culture in the presence of over 100 children. The theme of this year’s celebration of the Day was “Let’s Beat Plastic Pollution!”
The organizers of the event, RIEW-Sofia and the National Palace of Culture, had prepared an interesting program including amusing, educational games that taught the children how to use the unnecessary plastic packaging. Talented students from “Vasil Levski” Primary School, Pravets, performed songs as a greeting to all present. The presenter, the actor Tsvetomir Ivanov, made the event a great fun, and Eco Partners delivered gifts to the delight of all children present.
Special congratulatory speeches on the occasion of the Environment Day were pronounced by the Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water – Sofia, Eng. Irena Petkova, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Palace of Culture, Borislav Velkov, and Ivelina Vassileva, Chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Water at the 44th National Assembly .
The children were invited to view the art installations made of plastic packaging in the central lobby of the National Palace of Culture as part of the campaign “re: NPC -Recycle! It’s cultural. “
The event was also attended by representatives of the Forestry University, the Wild Animals Foundation, the Balkan Wildlife Researchers Association, the Skorets Club at the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University, secondary and university students from Sofia and Sofia region.
With this event, we turned our attention again to the increasingly pressing topic of pollution on the planet, and plastic waste, in particular. As Ms. Vassileva noted: “children are the best ambassadors of green ideas”. We, at Eco Partners, strongly believe in this and continue to invest lovingly our energy in the name of a cleaner future we will build with our young eco partners.
